Ranma 1-2: Hard Battle is one of those early SNES fighters that feels a little rough around the edges now, but it’s got charm if you’re into the anime. You pick from Ranma, Akane, Ryoga, and the rest of the gang, each with their own weird moves—like Ranma flipping between girl and guy forms mid-fight. The sprites are chunky but colorful, and some stages have goofy hazards, like falling barrels in the dojo.
It’s not as polished as Street Fighter II, but the character banter (in Japanese) and the chaotic energy make it fun for a few rounds. Just don’t expect deep combo systems—this is more about button-mashing and laughing at the ridiculous special moves. The music’s catchy, though.
If you grew up with Ranma 1/2, it’s a nostalgia trip. Otherwise, it’s a decent curiosity for retro fighting game fans.
