Prehistorik Man on SNES is one of those weird, charming platformers that feels like someone threw Bonk’s Adventure and a Saturday morning cartoon into a blender. You play as this caveman with a ridiculous haircut, smacking dinosaurs with a club and collecting giant hunks of meat (because of course that’s the currency here).
The first level throws you right into it—jungles with vines to swing on, pits to avoid, and these little lizard guys that just will not stop jumping at you. The controls take a second to get used to—your jump’s a little floaty, and swinging that club has a weird delay—but once it clicks, it’s oddly satisfying. Also, the music? Weirdly catchy in that early ‘90s way.
It’s not the hardest game out there, but some of the later caves get pretty mean with the enemy placement. And yeah, the whole "save your village" thing is just an excuse to run left and hit stuff, but honestly? That’s all I needed. If you’re into janky retro platformers with personality, this one’s a solid time.
