Pokémon Snakewood is one of those weird, off-the-wall ROM hacks that takes the usual Pokémon formula and throws it into a blender with zombies, post-apocalyptic vibes, and some seriously bizarre humor. You start in Hoenn, but it’s not the Hoenn you remember—everything’s gone to hell, and you’re fighting undead Pokémon instead of the usual gym leaders.
The writing’s a mix of edgy and ridiculous (think bad horror movie meets internet meme), and the difficulty spikes can be brutal. I got wrecked by a random trainer with a team of overpowered ghosts about 20 minutes in. But if you’re into weird, janky challenges and don’t mind some questionable design choices, it’s a strangely entertaining ride. Just don’t expect anything polished.
Oh, and bring repels. You’ll need them.
