Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is one of those weird little spin-offs that somehow works way better than it should. You wake up as a Pokémon—no trainer, no explanation—and have to figure out why. The personality quiz at the start is oddly intense (I got stuck as a Mudkip my first time, which was... a choice), and then you're just thrown into this dungeon-crawling world where you recruit other Pokémon to form a rescue team.
The dungeons are randomly generated, so no two runs feel the same, and the turn-based combat keeps things tense when you're low on health and surrounded by Geodudes. It's got that classic Pokémon charm, but with a totally different vibe—more about exploration and survival than gym battles. The story actually gets pretty emotional, too, which I wasn't expecting from a game where half my team is just a bunch of Sentret following me around.
If you're into roguelikes or just want a different take on Pokémon, this one's a solid pick. Just don't get too attached to your Reviver Seeds—they never last long enough.
