Pokémon Mewtwo Strikes Back is one of those weird, kinda obscure SNES games that feels like it was made for hardcore fans. You don’t play as a trainer—instead, you control Mewtwo in this side-scrolling beat ‘em up, smashing through waves of scientists and security bots. The sprites are chunky, the controls are a little stiff, but there’s something oddly satisfying about wrecking a lab with psychic blasts.
It’s short, maybe an hour if you’re good, and the difficulty spikes out of nowhere. Still, if you’ve ever wanted to play as Mewtwo going full rogue, this is your chance. Just don’t expect anything close to the main series.
