Pokemon Mariom Game

Pokémon MarioMon GBA is one of those weird, fun little ROM hacks that mashes up Pokémon and Mario characters—think Pikachu with a Mario hat or Bowser as some kind of fire-breathing pseudo-legendary. The sprites are janky in that charming early-2000s way, and the battles play out like a regular Pokémon game, just with Koopas and Goombas standing in for Geodudes and Zubats.
At first, I thought it’d just be a lazy reskin, but there’s actually some effort here—Mario’s your starter (obviously), and his moveset feels like a mix of Fighting and Normal type. The overworld’s got that classic GBA vibe, though the colors are a little off, like someone cranked the saturation too high. It’s not polished, but if you’ve ever wanted to throw a Fire Flower at a Wiggler, this is your chance.
Honestly, it’s the kind of thing you boot up for the novelty, then end up playing way longer than expected just to see what weird crossover they came up with next.
