Nichibutsu Arcade Classics 2 - Heiankyou Alien (japan) Game

Heiankyou Alien is one of those weird, simple arcade ports that somehow sticks with you. You play as this little dude digging holes to trap aliens—sounds basic, but it gets frantic fast. The SNES version keeps the original's pixelated charm, though the controls take a second to get used to (digging diagonally feels a bit stiff at first).
What’s cool is how the aliens get smarter each round—they start avoiding your traps, and suddenly you’re sweating over a grid that looked easy five minutes ago. The music’s this repetitive synth loop that either drives you nuts or weirdly hypes you up. No idea why, but I kept coming back to it between bigger SNES titles.
Definitely more of a "one more try" game than a deep strategy thing. If you dig retro arcade puzzlers, it’s a neat time capsule.
