Mickey Mania on SNES is this weirdly cool side-scroller where you jump through different eras of Mickey Mouse’s cartoon history. One minute you’re dodging barrels in a black-and-white Steamboat Willie level, the next you’re getting chased by a living broomstick from Fantasia. The animation’s surprisingly smooth for a 16-bit game—Mickey’s ears even flop around when he runs.
It’s not just nostalgia bait, though. Some of those later levels get brutal, especially the Moose Hunt stage where you’re getting shot at from all sides. The music’s full of those classic Disney melodies, but rearranged with that crunchy SNES sound chip. If you grew up with old Mickey cartoons, half the fun is spotting the references. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—those bouncing tomatoes in the garden level still mess me up.
Honestly, it’s one of those licensed games that actually got the vibe right.
