About Mega Man
Mega Man came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed and published by Capcom. It was one of many action platformers on the system, but it had a particular structure that made it stand out. You control a small blue robot, and your goal is to stop the nefarious Dr. Wily and his army of renegade robots.
You run, jump, and shoot your way through stages, choosing which of the six Robot Master bosses to tackle first. The signature mechanic is that defeating a boss grants you their unique weapon, and each Robot Master is weak to a specific weapon from another. This creates a strategic order to the stages. The game is known for its precise platforming and considerable difficulty, demanding quick reflexes and careful pattern recognition. It feels satisfying to finally learn a stage's layout and overcome a boss that gave you trouble.
