LEGO Soccer Mania on GBA is exactly what it sounds like—soccer, but with that classic LEGO charm. You start off picking a team (I went with the pirates first because, well, pirates), and right away you notice the little details—players wobble when they run, the ball bounces like it’s made of plastic bricks, and the crowd is just a wall of colorful minifigs cheering. It’s silly in the best way.
The controls are simple—pass, shoot, slide tackle—but the real fun comes from the over-the-top power-ups and special moves. One match, my striker suddenly sprouted rocket boosters and launched the ball into the net at mach speed. Another time, the goalie turned into a giant brick wall. It’s chaotic, but in that perfect LEGO "why not?" kind of way.
You can tweak your team’s formation and even unlock weird bonus characters (I won’t spoil them, but let’s just say not all of them are human). Matches are quick, so it’s great for short bursts, though I definitely lost an hour or two trying to beat the unlockable tournament mode. If you ever wanted to see soccer with LEGO’s signature humor, this is it.
