Knights of the Round is one of those classic Capcom beat-'em-ups that just feels right—you pick between Arthur (sword and shield), Lancelot (faster but weaker), or Percival (weird axe guy), and then it's just you, a ton of armored goons, and some satisfyingly chunky sword swings. The combat's simple but weighty, and you can even level up your knight mid-game if you rack up enough kills, which changes their armor and makes hits land harder.
What I love is how it nails that medieval brawl vibe—you'll smash barrels for health, chuck enemies into pits, and occasionally fight on horseback (though those sections are a bit clunky). The sprite work holds up surprisingly well, especially when you pull off a screen-clearing special attack. Just don't expect a deep story—it's basically "hit guys until you reach the boss, repeat." Still, there's something weirdly satisfying about clobbering your way through waves of knights with a buddy in co-op.
Fair warning: the Japanese version is slightly easier than the overseas release, so if you hate cheap hits, this might be the one to try.
