King of the Monsters on SNES is basically Godzilla meets pro wrestling—but with way more buildings getting wrecked. You pick a kaiju, stomp through cities, and throw down in over-the-top brawls where entire skyscrapers crumble under you. The controls are simple (grab, punch, suplex), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about backdropping a giant monster onto a power plant.
It’s got that early ‘90s arcade vibe—quick matches, flashy special moves, and a surprising amount of strategy once you figure out which monsters counter others. Geon’s tail whip feels unfair until you realize Astro Guy can just fly over it. The pixel art holds up, too—seeing your fighter’s silhouette loom over a burning Tokyo never gets old.
Just don’t expect a deep story. It’s pure chaos, and that’s exactly why it’s still fun to revisit.
