Iron Commando (prototype) is one of those forgotten SNES beat 'em ups that somehow slipped under the radar—probably because it never got a full release. But man, it’s got that classic arcade brawler vibe down pat. You pick between two characters (I always go for the dude with the sword), then just start wrecking goons left and right across some surprisingly detailed pixel-art stages.
The controls are simple—jump, punch, grab—but there’s something satisfying about the way enemies ragdoll when you land a heavy hit. And the bosses? Huge, screen-filling dudes that actually make you think for half a second before mashing buttons. It’s rough around the edges (it is a prototype), but if you miss the days of dumping quarters into arcade cabinets, this one’s worth a look.
Just don’t expect a deep story—you’re basically here to punch things until the credits roll.
