International Superstar Soccer Advance was my go-to soccer fix on the GBA back in the day. It's got that classic Konami arcade feel—fast, responsive, and just the right amount of chaos when you're charging down the wing. The controls are simple enough to pick up quickly, but there's some sneaky depth if you start messing with through balls and manual shots.
Graphics are solid for the GBA, with decent sprite work and animations that make headers and slide tackles actually satisfying. The commentary's hilariously sparse (mostly just "GOAL!" and "SHOOT!"), but it adds to the charm. I spent way too many bus rides trying to win the cup mode with Brazil—Ronaldo was basically unstoppable if you timed his sprints right.
Still holds up if you're into retro sports games, especially if you want something faster than FIFA but less punishing than PES. Just don't expect modern licensing—half the fun was guessing which real-life players the generic names were referencing.
