Gunstar Super Heroes is that rare sequel that actually lives up to the original—somehow even crazier than the Genesis classic. You start off sliding down a crashing airship while blasting robots, and it never really lets up from there. The weapon mixing system's back (fire + lightning = OP), but now there's this wild melee counter move that feels so good to pull off when you're swarmed.
What surprised me was how much the GBA could handle—screen-filling bosses, particle effects everywhere, and this one level where you're basically playing a vertical shooter for a few minutes. The soundtrack slaps too, especially the remixed tracks from the first game. Just be ready for some brutal difficulty spikes around the halfway point.
If you've got a soft spot for Treasure's brand of chaotic action, this is peak GBA. That final boss still gives me nightmares though.
