Final Fantasy Legend II EasyType is one of those Game Boy RPGs that somehow feels bigger than it has any right to be. You start off picking your party—humans, mutants, or monsters—and I’ll be honest, I restarted twice because I couldn’t decide. Mutants get random skills, monsters eat defeated enemies to transform… it’s weird in the best way.
The "EasyType" tweaks make grinding less brutal (original version could be punishing), but it’s still got that old-school charm—vague NPC hints, maze-like towers, and gear that actually matters in fights. The pixel art’s simple but full of personality, especially the enemy designs. That first time you climb the giant tower to another world? Still gives me chills.
It’s not perfect—some mechanics feel archaic now—but there’s something about the way it throws you into this sprawling, surreal adventure that sticks with you. If you’ve got a soft spot for 90s RPGs, this one’s worth dusting off the Game Boy for.
