Earthbound - The Mysterious Mine is one of those weird, wonderful SNES RPGs that sticks with you. You start off in this sleepy little town, but before long, you're poking around a creepy abandoned mine—full of sentient mushrooms, psychic rats, and whatever that thing was in the third tunnel (seriously, it had too many teeth).
The combat's classic Earthbound—turn-based but with this trippy psychedelic background that makes every fight feel like a bad trip. And the writing? So much dry humor. One minute you're getting life advice from a talking mailbox, the next you're fighting a possessed refrigerator. It shouldn't work, but it totally does.
Fair warning: bring snacks. That mine goes deep, and the boss at the bottom? Let's just say I lost three times before realizing I could cheese it with PSI Rockin. Still one of my favorite hidden SNES gems.
