ESPN Speed World on SNES is one of those racing games that actually makes you feel like you're tweaking a real stock car. At first glance, it looks like your typical '90s NASCAR sim, but the second you start adjusting tire pressure or messing with gear ratios, you realize how deep it goes. The physics aren't forgiving—take a turn too fast and you'll spin out like a rookie at Daytona.
Three track types keep things interesting: super speedways where you're basically flat-out the whole time, tight short tracks that punish bad braking, and road courses that feel weirdly satisfying for a game built around ovals. Dr. Jerry Punch's commentary pops up with actual useful tips, which is way better than the generic "nice pass!" stuff most racing games throw at you.
Multiplayer's where it really shines, though. Nothing like shoving your buddy into the wall on the last lap and hearing them yell about it. Just don't blame the game when your pit crew screws up your tire change—that's on you for hiring the cheap crew.
