Dragon's Lair on SNES is basically the OG quick-time event game—way before they became a thing in modern titles. You play as Dirk the Daring, this bumbling knight trying to rescue Princess Daphne from a dragon’s castle, but here’s the catch: it plays like an animated movie where you mash buttons at just the right moments to keep Dirk from getting roasted, squashed, or otherwise obliterated.
The animation still looks gorgeous, straight out of a Don Bluth cartoon, but man, the timing is brutal. One wrong move and you’re watching Dirk get turned into knight-flavored barbecue. It’s frustrating in that old-school arcade way where you’ll die a lot before memorizing the sequences, but pulling off a perfect run feels weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect deep gameplay—it’s more like a rhythm game with swords and dragons.
If you’re into retro challenge or just love the animation style, it’s a cool piece of gaming history. Just keep your reflexes sharp.
