Dragon Ball Z: La Legende Saien on SNES is one of those fighting games that just feels like the anime—clunky in that charming 16-bit way, but packed with energy attacks that actually make you grin when they land. You start off picking from the usual Z Fighters (Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, etc.), and yeah, the sprites are tiny, but the Kamehameha wave still looks satisfying when it connects.
The stages are basically condensed versions of the show’s big fights—Namek blowing up in the background while you’re trading punches with Frieza, that kind of thing. The controls take a minute to get used to (charge ki by holding buttons? Classic ’90s jank), but once you figure out the timing, pulling off a Spirit Bomb or Final Flash feels legit. Also, that soundtrack? Pure nostalgia—synthy renditions of the DBZ themes that’ll stick in your head.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you grew up with the series or just love retro brawlers, this one’s a blast for short bursts. Just don’t expect a tournament-level combo system.
