Dragon Ball Z - Collectible Card Game on the GBA is one of those weird little gems that flew under the radar. At first glance, it's just another card battler, but the way it blends DBZ's energy attacks and transformations into card mechanics actually works. You start by picking a character deck—Goku, Vegeta, etc.—and then it's all about managing your energy cards to pull off those big Kamehameha moments.
The pixel art captures the anime's style surprisingly well for a GBA game, and the battles feel faster than you'd expect from a card game. Early on, you'll realize timing your blocks and counters is just as important as throwing out attacks. It's got that classic Mode7 polish where even the menu transitions have unnecessary but satisfying visual flair.
If you ever wanted to recreate those drawn-out DBZ stare-downs but with actual strategy behind them, this is your best bet on handheld. Just don't expect it to hold your hand—some of the combo chains take real practice to pull off smoothly.
