Digimon Adventure Game

Digimon Adventure on SNES is one of those weird, charming RPGs that feels like it shouldn’t work—but somehow does. You start off with this little digital monster (I picked Agumon, obviously), and before long, you’re wandering through blocky but colorful zones that somehow nail that early '90s digital world aesthetic.
The battles are simple turn-based stuff, but the digivolving mechanic keeps things interesting. Mess around with training and feeding your Digimon enough, and suddenly your little dino buddy’s sprouting wings or turning into a knight. The translation’s a bit rough, and the menus feel clunky now, but there’s something oddly satisfying about grinding just enough to unlock a new form.
It’s not as polished as later Digimon games, but if you’re into retro RPGs with weird creature-raising mechanics, this one’s got a weirdly specific charm. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
