Bomberman Max 2: Bomberman Version is exactly what you'd expect from a classic GBA Bomberman game—fast, chaotic, and way too easy to lose an hour to. You start off in this grid maze, dropping bombs to clear paths and take out enemies, and before long, you're scrambling to avoid your own explosions while trying to corner the other players (or the AI, if you're flying solo).
The multiplayer is where it really shines—grab a link cable and suddenly you're trash-talking your friends as you trap them in a dead end with a well-placed bomb. The single-player campaign isn't bad either, with just enough variety in enemies and stages to keep you from getting bored. And yeah, the graphics are pure early 2000s GBA charm—bright, simple, and weirdly satisfying when everything blows up at once.
If you've played any Bomberman before, this one won't surprise you, but that's kind of the point. It's a solid, no-frills version of the formula. Just don't blame me when you get blown up by your own bomb because you misjudged the timing.
