Battletoads & Double Dragon is one of those weird, awesome SNES crossovers where you get to mash up two totally different beat-em-up worlds. You start off picking between the Double Dragon bros or the Battletoads—I usually go with Rash because, let's be honest, that dude's unhinged. The first level throws you right into it: smashing through neon-lit streets, kicking dudes into the background, and occasionally turning into a wrecking ball (because Battletoads logic).
The combo moves feel chunky in that satisfying SNES way, and the enemy designs are just the right amount of ridiculous. Some of the later stages get brutal—classic Battletoads difficulty creeping in—but teaming up with a buddy makes it way more manageable. Also, the soundtrack slaps harder than a toad-powered uppercut.
It's not the deepest beat-em-up out there, but it's got that chaotic charm where you're never quite sure what nonsense will happen next.
