Star Wars on NES is this weird, kinda janky mix of side-scrolling platforming and top-down space shooting—all wrapped in that classic Namco arcade feel. You start off as Luke hopping around Tatooine, swinging your lightsaber at Sand People (good luck hitting them consistently), then suddenly you're in an X-wing dodging TIEs. The controls take some getting used to, and the hit detection is... questionable, but there's something charming about how it throws you straight into the Death Star trench run with chiptune Star Wars music blaring. Definitely feels like an early attempt at translating the movie into 8-bit action.
Fun fact: The Japanese version actually has slightly smoother gameplay than the US release. Still brutally hard, though.
