Star Wars on NES is one of those weird, janky-but-charming licensed games from the late '80s. You start off blasting TIE fighters in a side-scrolling space section that feels like someone tried to cram an arcade shooter into a home console, then suddenly you're jumping across Death Star platforms with Luke's weirdly floaty controls. The music's actually pretty solid for an 8-bit adaptation—that main theme kicks in right away and does a lot of heavy lifting.
Honestly, the platforming bits haven't aged great (good luck judging some of those jumps), but there's something oddly satisfying about the way your blaster shots arc across the screen. And yeah, you'll fight Vader at the end, though it's not exactly the epic duel you might hope for. Definitely more of a nostalgia trip than a hidden gem.
