About Phantasy Star (japan)
Phantasy Star came out for the Sega Master System, developed and published by Sega. At a time when many console RPGs were still quite basic, this one stood out on the platform with its distinct style and more involved narrative.
You control Alis, a young woman seeking revenge for her brother's murder. Your goal is to gather a party and defeat the tyrannical King Lassic. The game mixes top-down exploration of towns and the world map with first-person, grid-based dungeon crawling. You engage in turn-based battles against monsters, using swords, guns, and techniques (the game's term for magic). The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is significant, especially in the mazelike dungeons where you need to draw your own maps.
