About Dragon Crystal
Dragon Crystal came out for the Sega Master System, developed by Sega. It was one of the many dungeon crawlers available on the system, a time when these kinds of grid based adventures were a common sight. You control a young hero who finds themself transported to a strange, monster filled labyrinth. The goal is to navigate this multi level dungeon, find the legendary Dragon Crystal, and find a way back home.
You move your character one square at a time through the dungeon, which is presented screen by screen. Every time you take a step, every monster on the level also moves, creating a constant, turn based tension. You start with a simple sword for combat, but you'll find different weapons and magical staves as you explore deeper. The main challenge is managing your resources; your sword can shatter, food is scarce, and unidentified potions could heal you or harm you. The pacing is deliberate, demanding careful planning with every move you make. It feels like a tense, thoughtful puzzle where a single wrong step can lead to a quick end.
