Yoshi's Strange Quest is one of those weird little SNES gems that never got the attention it deserved. You start off with Yoshi—same flutter jump and egg-throwing as usual—but then things get weird fast. The first level looks normal enough, until you realize some platforms vanish if you stare at them too long, and there’s this bizarre enemy that looks like a walking top hat. No explanation, just vibes.
The puzzles are where it shines, though. One minute you’re tossing eggs at clouds to make them rain coins, the next you’re riding a giant pencil like a skateboard. It’s got that classic Yoshi feel but with a surreal twist—like someone mixed Mario World with a fever dream. And the music? Cheerfully offbeat, like a carnival tune played slightly out of tune.
If you dig SNES platformers but want something that doesn’t play by the rules, this one’s a trip. Just don’t ask me why there’s a level where everything’s upside-down and Yoshi suddenly speaks in riddles.
