Man, this one takes me back—TMNT II: Back From The Sewers was my go-to Game Boy cart for years. You pick your turtle (Leo’s my usual, but Donnie’s bo staff has reach), then it’s straight into the sewers smacking Foot Clan goons with pizza-powered energy. The sprites are tiny but full of attitude, and that crunchy Game Boy sound when you land a hit? Perfect.
What I love is how it mixes things up—one minute you’re platforming over toxic sludge, the next you’re in a weird top-down level chucking shurikens at Baxter Stockman’s flies. The difficulty spikes hard around stage 3 (thanks, Shredder), but finding a hidden 1-up in a manhole cover makes it worth the rage. Just don’t expect the arcade version—this is pure portable chaos with extra sewer flavor.
Still holds up if you can handle the occasional cheap hit and pixel-perfect jumps. Cowabunga indeed.
