I picked up Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles II: Back from the Sewers on my Game Boy back in 1991. It was a Konami release, one of many side-scrolling action games that filled the portable's library at the time. This one was the European version of the sequel, landing a couple of years after the first Game Boy outing.

You control one of the four turtles, switching between them before a stage begins. Your goal is to fight through waves of Foot Clan soldiers and other mutants across different city locations. The game uses a screen by screen progression; you clear all the enemies on one screen to advance to the next. You have your standard jump and attack, but you can also perform a special attack that uses up a portion of your health. The levels are fairly short, but the enemy placement can make some sections surprisingly tough. It feels like a quick, portable brawler that captures the simple energy of the cartoon.
