Alright, so this is the Turtles' first outing on the Game Boy—pretty barebones by today’s standards, but it’s got that classic beat-em-up charm. You pick your favorite turtle (Leo’s my go-to, but Donnie’s bo staff has surprising reach) and brawl through streets and sewers, kicking Foot Clan butt along the way. The platforming’s basic—jump over pits, punch some robots—but it nails that TMNT vibe with chunky sprites and those satisfying thwack sounds when you hit enemies.
Boss fights against Shredder and Krang are the real highlight, though. They’re not super complex, but dodging Shredder’s claw swipes feels way more intense when you’re down to your last sliver of health. Just don’t expect deep combat—this is pure, old-school button-mashing fun. The music’s a banger too, for a Game Boy soundtrack.
It’s short, it’s janky in places, but man, it’s a nostalgia trip if you grew up with these green guys. You’ll probably beat it in an afternoon, but that’s part of the charm.
