Super Bomberman 4 is one of those SNES gems that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s easily one of the best in the series. You’ve got the same classic bomb-dropping chaos, but with way more stages, new power-ups, and even a weird little story mode where Bomberman teams up with a kangaroo (yeah, really).
The first few levels ease you in with the usual brick walls and basic enemies, but before long you’re dodging conveyor belts, teleporters, and these annoying little UFOs that steal your power-ups. The controls are tight, the music’s got that classic SNES charm, and the multiplayer is as ridiculous as ever—just don’t expect your friendships to survive a four-player match.
If you’re into retro games and somehow missed this one, it’s worth tracking down a fan translation or digging into the Japanese ROM. The kangaroo stays weird the whole time, by the way.
