About Super Bomberman
I first played Super Bomberman on the Super Nintendo in 1993, a game Hudson Soft put out. It was a time when the SNES was full of bright, competitive games, and this one fit right in with its simple, frantic style.
You control Bomberman, a little guy in a maze, and your main goal is to blow up all the enemies on the screen to proceed. You do this by placing bombs that explode in a cross pattern, clearing soft blocks to open paths and collecting power-ups to increase your blast radius or the number of bombs you can lay. The mazes are single screen affairs, and you have to be careful not to get caught in your own explosion or cornered by the increasingly clever enemies. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding both quick reflexes and a bit of forward planning. It feels tense and satisfying when you clear a tricky stage.
