About Super Bomberman 1
Super Bomberman 1 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Hudson Soft. It was one of those games that felt perfectly at home on the SNES, a straightforward concept executed with clean graphics and responsive controls that made it a go-to for quick sessions.
You control Bomberman, navigating a single screen maze blocked by destructible soft blocks and indestructible hard blocks. Your main goal is to find the exit, which appears only after you defeat all the enemies on the stage. You place bombs to blast through the soft blocks, hoping to uncover power-ups that increase your blast radius, the number of bombs you can lay, or let you kick bombs across the screen. The pacing is fast; you are constantly moving to avoid your own explosions and the patrolling enemies, and the difficulty ramps up steadily with more complex mazes and faster foes. It feels tense and satisfying when a well-placed chain of explosions clears a path just in time.
