Man, this Game Boy version of Star Wars is such a weird little time capsule. You start off as Luke, swinging a pixelated lightsaber at stormtroopers who somehow look even blockier than usual, and suddenly you're in an X-Wing dodging TIE fighters that move like they've had too much caf. The controls take some getting used to—good luck nailing those trench runs without crashing into like five walls first.
It’s janky, sure, but there’s something charming about how it crams the whole trilogy into this tiny cartridge. One minute you’re fighting Boba Fett on a platform that’s three pixels wide, the next you’re awkwardly force-jumping over pits in the Death Star. The music’s actually impressive for the hardware, though—that 8-bit Imperial March still slaps. Just don’t expect it to play like the movies. You’ll be mashing buttons more than feeling like a Jedi.
If you’ve got nostalgia for this era of licensed games, it’s a fun relic. Otherwise, maybe stick to the SNES version.
