Mario Bros. on NES is that classic arcade-style platformer where you and a buddy (Luigi’s there if you need him) stomp around a single-screen arena knocking out pests. No scrolling levels here—just you, some platforms, and a bunch of crabs and turtles that need kicking off-screen.

You’ve got two moves: run and jump. The real trick is hitting the floor from below to flip enemies onto their backs. Once they’re stunned, you’ve gotta shove them off quick—wait too long and they wake up angrier (and faster). There’s this POW block in the middle that lets you shake the whole stage at once, flipping everything, but it only works a few times before needing a recharge. Feels awesome when you time it right.

It’s simple, but the pacing gets wild when multiple pests start speeding around. The coin bonus rounds are a nice breather, though. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school arcade tension.
