Final Fantasy IV - Easy Type is the SNES version that made the original a little friendlier for newcomers. You still get Cecil’s redemption arc, Kain’s backstabbing drama, and that wild twist where your party gets wiped halfway through (no spoilers, but… oof). The difficulty’s toned down—fewer random encounters, less grinding—so you can actually enjoy the story without getting stuck on some ridiculous boss fight for hours.

It’s got that classic 16-bit charm: chocobos, airships, and a soundtrack that’ll get stuck in your head for days. The pixel art holds up, especially in those big moments when the screen flashes with spell effects. If you’ve never played an old-school Final Fantasy, this is a solid place to start—just don’t expect modern quality-of-life stuff like auto-saves or a skip button for summons.

Fair warning: the dialogue’s still cheesy as hell, but that’s part of the charm.
