Fantasy Zone - The Maze is one of those weird, charming Sega Master System spin-offs that takes the cute alien shooter formula and throws it into a maze game. You're still controlling Opa-Opa (that little pastel spaceship with legs), but now you're navigating tight corridors instead of open skies.

The first thing you'll notice is how bright everything is—neon pink walls, teal floors, enemies that look like rejected candy mascots. It's got that classic Fantasy Zone vibe where everything wants to kill you, but at least it's cheerful about it. The controls feel a little stiff at first compared to the main series, but you get used to weaving through the maze while dodging bouncing blobs and ricocheting bullets.

Power-ups pop up randomly, and half the time I wasn't sure if grabbing that floating cupcake would give me speed or just explode in my face. The later levels get seriously mean with enemy spawns, so it's not just mindless wandering—you've gotta plan routes and sometimes just bail before a corridor gets too crowded.

It's not the deepest game, but there's something satisfying about clearing a maze without getting cornered. Definitely more of a curiosity than the main Fantasy Zone games, but worth a look if you're into retro oddities.
