Bomberman B-Daman is one of those weird little SNES spin-offs that somehow works. You’ve got the usual maze-running, bomb-dropping chaos of classic Bomberman, but then—surprise—you’re suddenly launching marbles like some kind of explosive pinball duel. It shouldn’t mesh, but it does.

The first few rounds feel familiar: dodging fire, setting traps, watching some poor sap walk right into your blast. Then the B-Daman mode kicks in, and suddenly you’re lining up ricochets like a pool shark. The controls take a second to click, but once they do, it’s oddly satisfying to bank a shot off three walls just to nail your buddy in the back.

Pixel art’s crisp, the music’s got that SNES charm, and the whole thing moves faster than you’d expect. Not every idea lands perfectly, but it’s the kind of weird experiment that makes digging through retro games worth it. If you’ve got a friend handy, it’s a solid couch competition pick.
