About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ? Tournament Fighters
Konami released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters for the Sega Genesis in 1993. This was a time when fighting games were everywhere, and having a Turtles version on the 16-bit console felt like a natural fit. It wasn't the only Turtles fighter, but it was the one I spent the most time with on my Genesis.
You pick one of the Turtles or other characters like Casey Jones and fight one-on-one in a series of matches. The main goal is to win the tournament by beating every other fighter. You have your standard punches and kicks, but the special moves are what stand out; each character has a unique projectile or a powerful super move you can unleash when your meter is full. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly tough, especially in later rounds. It feels responsive and chaotic, like a proper arcade brawl in your living room.
