Man, Tournament Fighters on the Genesis was a weird one—in a good way. Konami made totally different versions for each console, and the Genesis one had this chunky, colorful style that just felt right. You’ve got all four Turtles, plus some deep cuts like Wingnut and Armaggon, which was wild for a TMNT game at the time.
The controls were smoother than I expected—no stiff NES-era jank here. Special moves actually land, and the AI doesn’t just spam cheap shots (looking at you, SNES version). First time I played, I went straight for Raphael because, well, sai. Big mistake. Turns out Donnie’s staff has way better reach when you’re figuring out the spacing.
Still holds up if you’re into 90s fighters, especially if you grew up with the cartoon. Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level depth.
