Remember when fighting games were just pure, chaotic fun? TMNT: Tournament Fighters on the Sega Genesis was one of those—no complicated combos to memorize, just pick your turtle (or one of the weird guest characters like Wingnut) and start throwing hands. The pixel art still holds up, especially the way Raphael’s sai spark when he clashes with someone.
It’s got that classic '90s vibe—over-the-top animations, weirdly stiff jumps, and special moves that feel way more powerful than they probably are. I always went for Leonardo because his sword slashes had ridiculous range, but good luck beating a friend who spams Splinter’s teleport kicks.
You can tell it was trying to ride the Street Fighter wave, but honestly? It’s way more fun when you stop taking it seriously and just enjoy the absurdity. The music’s a banger too.
