Street Fighter Alpha on Game Boy Color is a surprisingly solid port of the arcade classic—though obviously scaled down, it still nails the fast-paced, combo-heavy fights the series is known for. You’ve got Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and a few others, all with their signature moves intact (pulling off a Dragon Punch on that tiny D-pad takes some practice, though).
The pixel art holds up, especially for a GBC game—Chun-Li’s spinning bird kick still looks crisp. It’s not as deep as the console versions, but for quick matches on the go, it’s way better than it has any right to be. Just don’t expect Vega’s wall-climbing shenanigans or the full roster.
If you’ve got a soft spot for handheld fighting games, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
