Scarlet Devil Mario Game

Scarlet Devil Mario SNES is this weird, kinda janky but totally charming romhack that mashes up Super Mario World with Touhou vibes. You're still jumping on goombas and hitting blocks, but now there's bullet hell patterns flying at you from angry anime girls. Took me a few tries to get the dodge timing down—those pink danmaku bullets blend right into the candy-colored backgrounds.
The sprites are all redrawn with this rough but endearing 90s anime aesthetic. Mario's got this ridiculous oversized hat now, and the koopas wear little maid outfits for some reason. Music's a chiptune remix of Touhou tracks that somehow works perfectly with the Mario physics. First time I saw a yin-yang orb drop from a question block, I knew this mod was something special.
It's short and a bit unbalanced in places, but there's real creativity in how they reworked the Mario mechanics around bullet patterns. Just don't expect Nintendo polish—this feels like something made by a super passionate fan who really wanted to see Mario fight Cirno.
