Return Of Mario Game

Return of Mario SNES is one of those fan-made Mario games that feels like it could've been a lost official title—if Nintendo had gone a little wild with the formula. You’ve got classic side-scrolling action, but with some weird twists, like enemies that don’t behave quite how you’d expect and power-ups that make you second-guess whether they’re helping or trolling you.
The controls are tight, though, and the level design has that satisfying mix of "okay, I see what to do" followed immediately by "wait, how do I even reach that platform?" It’s got that janky-but-charming vibe of a ROM hack made by someone who clearly loved the original games but also wanted to mess with players just a little. If you’ve burned through all the official Mario titles and need something fresh but familiar, this one’s worth a look.
