Mario's Return Game

Mario's Return on SNES is one of those weird, unofficial Mario hacks that somehow feels both janky and charming at the same time. You’ve got the classic side-scrolling platforming, but the level design gets… creative (read: occasionally unfair). Jumping feels a little floaty compared to the real Mario games, and some of the enemy placements will absolutely catch you off guard.
That said, there’s something oddly satisfying about blasting through these remixed stages with the old-school SNES controls. The graphics are a mix of familiar sprites and some rough edits—like someone Frankensteined a Mario game in their basement. If you’re into obscure ROM hacks, it’s a fun little time capsule of early fan-made content.
Just don’t expect Nintendo polish, and you might actually enjoy the weirdness.
