Bomberman Max 2 - Max Version was a 2002 release for the Game Boy Advance from Hudson Soft. It arrived during a period when the handheld was well established, offering a familiar take on the Bomberman formula for players on the go. This particular version, the Max edition, provided its own distinct content alongside the separate Blue Champion release.
You control Max, navigating through a series of single screen arenas. Your primary goal is to defeat all the enemies in each stage by placing bombs that explode in a cross shaped pattern. Signature mechanics include collecting power ups to increase your bomb blast length and the number of bombs you can place at once, and sometimes riding on a Charabom creature which grants unique offensive abilities. The pacing is quick, with later stages demanding careful positioning to avoid getting trapped by your own explosions or fast moving foes.
