About Zoop (japan)
Zoop was a Game Boy puzzle game released in Japan in 1995, developed by Hookstone and published by Viacom New Media. It arrived during a period when the handheld was saturated with puzzle games, offering a distinct, fast-paced alternative to the more methodical titles of the era.
You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, shooting colored blocks that descend from the top. The main objective is to clear the screen by matching your cursor's color to the incoming blocks before they reach the bottom. Two signature mechanics define the play: you can swap your cursor's color to match oncoming rows, and you must also manage a constant stream of new blocks that fill the screen from all sides. The pacing is relentless, with the difficulty ramping up quickly as the playfield becomes more crowded. It feels like a tense, color-matching race against an inevitable crush.
