Okay, so this is one of those old-school Game Boy gems that’ll hit you right in the nostalgia if you grew up with Yu Yu Hakusho. You start off picking between Yusuke, Kuwabara, or Hiei—each with their own moves, obviously—and then it’s straight into the demon world. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy game, and the combat’s this weird mix of turn-based and real-time where you’ve gotta time your button presses right to land hits.
It’s not just mindless fighting, though. There’s some light puzzle-solving between battles, like figuring out which path leads to the next boss or how to trigger hidden events. The dialogue’s all in Japanese, but if you know the anime, you’ll recognize the major story beats. And yeah, the difficulty spikes are brutal in that classic 90s way—good luck beating some of these demons without grinding a bit first.
If you’ve got a soft spot for licensed games that actually tried, this one’s worth dusting off the old Game Boy for.
